Ahlam Da'as

It's my pleasure to introduce my self..well, Ian Ahlam Da'as born and raised in Jordan. I graduated from Jordan university of science and technology , I studied Nutrition and Food Technology.

I worked as a dietitian for eight years, and as teacher assistant for tow years for clinical nutrition students, and now I am working as a health promotor officer for NCDs patients (Syrian refugees and non insured Jordanian ) our clinic covered DM I & II , HYPERTENSION , ASTHMA , CVD ,COPD , HYPOTHYROIDISM)

I think  I have many skills that I have gained through the jobs I have worked in, the most important of  those skills are communication skills, solving problems, computer utilization, working under pressure, working with multiple nationalities and cultures, prioritizing work and during the Corona pandemic to deal with emergency situations and find alternatives.

1. Health promotor officer(Doctors without Borders)

• Coach medical staff in health assessments and education regarding he NCD and 
lifestyle
• Participate in health education of the patient (and family) when necessary
• Participate in preparation and delivery of in- house training of the staff (quality of 
care, patient and staff safety, update of protocols…)
• Know, promote, implement and follow at all times the universal hygiene 
standards/ pre-cautions, bio-hazard prevention and infection control, security 
rules and other protocols and procedures in the medical premises and ensure high 
standards of hygiene of his/her working environment .
• Ensure patients are properly received and installed in the health service. Ensures 
that patients with lack of autonomy are assisted, especially regarding their 
feeding, personal hygiene, movements and comfort.
• Respect medical secret and confidentiality
• Carry-out and supervise administrative procedures and documents (fill in patients 
files, forms, consumptions, statistics, etc.), ensure an appropriate written/oral 
handover, and report any problematic situations and cases that may arise. fill in all 
necessary registers and health files, participate in data collection and keep 
doctors/supervisors informed.
• Ensure up-to-date knowledge of and provide patient care according to MSF/ MoH 
guidelines.
• Treat all patients in a compassionate manner, respecting medical ethics and 
medical confidentiality.

• Identify need for patients’ education and provide education and materials on 
lifestyle, chronic disease management, self-care and medication adherence.
• Ensure the systematic and organized follow up of patients, including follow-up of 
non-attenders.

 Clinically assess patient’s nutrition status and diet implement 
nutritional care plans using diet history, anthropometric and 
laboratory data and other relevant information.
• Monitor patient tolerance to modified diet or supplements are 
recommend modifications of diet order to physician as appropriates 
(diet, supplement, enteral and parenteral nutrition) updating data in 
the Dietary Computerized System (DTS).
• Provide follow-up care according to individual requirments and 
established protocols,conducted random evaluation on therapeutic 
meals and updating patient menues as required.
• Provide diet and nutrition counseling to patients, family member, and 
others as approtiate, instructing patients and their families in 
nutritional principles, dietary plans, food selection, and preparation.
• Communicate nutrition care plans to medical and nursing staff, 
documenting all aspects of nutritional care following established 
protocol, policies and procedures.
• Assist with educational presentation and training programmes in 
dietetic and nutrition to inpatients, outpatients, medical 
staff,multidisiplinary allied health proffesionals and community group 
as required. Utilize educational tools for patients and and contribute 
input and feedback to support departmental activity.
• Participate in relevant committees requiring partocipation of Clinical 
Nutrition as assigned and participates in multi-disciplinary patients 
rounds as required.
• Assist with implementation and evaluation of protocol and procrdures 
to ensure quality nutritional care for inpatients and outpatients.
• Participate in the dietetic Intership Programme and the Sauidi Career 
Development program(SCPD) by providing practical training activities 
and assigments, maintaining responsibility for student evaluation.
• Perform other job related duties required.
