Farah Saad

I am a very passionate International Baccalaureate Program educator, working for the past 15 years at one of the first IB schools in my country and the region, the Amman Baccalaureate School, Amman-Jordan. 

Throughout the past years, I was truly inspired by the IB philosophy which I believe has shaped who I am as an educator. As I strongly believe that this program develops inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who are motivated to succeed in different aspects of life. It provides students with so many opportunities to excel through building their critical thinking skills, nurturing their curiosity and their ability to solve complex problems enabling them to build a better world through intercultural understanding and respect, alongside a healthy appetite for learning and excellence.

After completing my Bachelor’s Degree in English Language and Literature from the University of Jordan in the year 2004, I started working as an MYS Individuals and Societies teacher teaching History and Geography to MYS students from grades 8-10. I am responsible for developing rigorous Curricula that cater for 21st-century learning . I am also part of the Middle Year Program Team, taking charge of Service as Action, a core element in the IB program, responsible for providing opportunities for students to participate in service learning, where they build authentic connections between what they learn in the classroom and what they encounter in the community through Action and Service Activities and also ensuring that the implementation is within the MYP curricula of different subjects and is done by completing the five main stages of Service as Action requirements. 

I am also serving the IB as a certified workshop leader, a role that I enjoy a lot as it’s a chance to learn and keep updated in the practices and yet share knowledge and expertise with others throughout delivering workshops around the world, United Kingdom, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Dubai. I was also a key contributor in getting our school ready for its evaluation for the past decade or so, as a teacher and as a leader.

My ability to get the best out of students is further strengthened by my experiences. As I serve as Service as Action  Leader, I have developed different ways of motivating students, helping push them outside of their comfort zones, and encouraging them to take on new challenges. 

I received my PGCE Certificate in June 2022 and will be starting my MA program- Masters of Education in Liverpool John Moore’s University in December,  as I would like to strengthen my knowledge and broaden my horizon as its very helpful to review evidence and decide whether the practices are in place or not. I think that this is going to be valuable to me as it also gives a broader perspective on how I can use the skills I have developed and the experiences that I have gained throughout the years of my teaching and learning journey in a different capacity. ​ I believe this opportunity will allow me to commit to dedicating myself to a role in which I will keep striving to always be an inspiration to my students and be inspired by them.
