I have finished a six months job with the Jordanian National Commission for women as a Policy Director, where I designed the road map for inclusion of gender and incorporation of the National Women Strategy in the Government indicative plans, throughout building partnerships and managing relations with partner governmental organizations to ensure gender mainstreaming in their work. Moreover, I was responsible for the management of preparation of policy papers advocating for gender equality and integration, and proposal writing. My mission also included gender integration in the work of the government of Jordan.
Previously. I have worked as Governance Advisor on two big project in non-regime areas in Syria, one was funded by EU and called Tamkeen, and the other was funded by USAID and called Syria Essential Services SESII implemented by Blumont. The projects aimed at building institutional resilience and social cohesion in non-regime areas in Syria. I have been able to build partnerships with more than 55 local councils and 4 municipalities in Syria, where I initiated and managed the partnerships with these organizations to build their capacities in the area of community engagement and good governance (participation, transparency, and community accountability). I have worked with these local governance organizations to build capacity of stakeholders in better outreach and services to their communities for better responsiveness and impact. I was responsible for training counterparts on participation, good governance and accountability. I was responsible for the governance component implementation in both projects. Additionally I worked with the Raqqa Women Committee on gender issues and gender mainstreaming in their work.
Prior to my Syria experience, I have worked with national and international organizations, in addition to bilateral and multilateral funding, on both the grassroots and macro levels in Jordan, Syria, and Lebanon. Moreover, I have always been responsible for partnering with Government and non-governmental/ civil society organizations and build sound relationships to better mainstream best practices. Throughout my experience, I have built networks, written proposals, managed interventions in addition to staff. I have also conducted the research on programmes targeting youth in Jordan, which was published by UNICEF in 2002, and was the basis for building the youth strategy. Moreover, I was always responsible for the technical design and implementation in addition to planning and organization of the tasks I manage. Additionally, financial management has always been an integral part of my tasks, where overseeing budgets and expenditures were integral to my job descriptions.
