Project “Advancing Decent Work in Jordan’s Agriculture Sector 

Objective: Advance decent work and the status of agriculture workers in the sector through a compliance model that strengthens productivity, national labour legislation and adheres to international labour standards. 

Duties 

  • Coordinate the management and implementation of all activities at the municipal-levels, through timely provision of inputs and efficient delivery of outputs; including but not limited to support: assessments, analysis, training, implementation, coordination, supervision and technical control of Project interventions leading to enhanced working conditions at municipal level 
  • contribute on Adapting think.coop, start.coop and my.coop tools to Jordanian context
  • Support ITC on developing tailored online training on My.coop tool in Arabic
  • Contribute on developing and adapting OSH tool for cooperatives.
  • Adapt Child labour tool for cooperatives to Jordanian context, and conduct several TOT’s targeting cooperatives 
  • provide capacity building for agriculture cooperative in Jordan and Lebanon to enhance productivity and enhance descent work condition in agriculture sector including TOT on ILO’s tools: think.coop, start.coop. mamage.coop, OSH tool for cooperatives, child labour tool for cooperatives
  •  Coordinate and build partnerships with local stakeholders and implementing partners, including partners in labour directorates, departments of agriculture, local agricultural cooperatives, trade unions, workers’ organisations, employment service providers, community-based organisations and UN agencies. 
  • support providing capacity building for local stakeholders /service providers 
  • Support the Training local service providers, teachers, agricultural cooperatives, farmers and community leaders to identify and address instances of child labour, and occupational safety and health 
  • design; supervise implementation of project’s intervention for enhancement of labourer’s accommodations at farm level   
  • Work closely with direct advisor, in development of terms of reference for activities, and the procurement and purchase of equipment.

International Labour Organization: agricultural consultant 

Project: Job creation for Syrian refugees and Jordanian host communities through green works in agriculture and forestry (EIIP) 

  1. Design and Implementation of green works public employment initiatives including training material on EIIP for green works in agriculture and train ministry of agriculture on labour-based approach.
  2. Contribute to developing SOP’s of implementing Cash for Work (CfW)/EIIP-Based projects in Close coordination with other organizations implementing such project in Jordan
  3. Provide advisory services to Agricultural authorities in support of agricultural Projects strategies maximize the retention of existing trees, woodlands and natural areas.   
  4. Provide advice on the development of a comprehensive plan for tree and forest management, irrigation, rainwater harvesting 
  5. Educate and build awareness of best practices for the maintenance and management of trees.   
  6. Contribute to the preparation of all documents including TOR’s, Implementation agreements bids, contracts, technical and financial reports, progress reports, impact assessment, and M&E 
  7. Provide supervision and technical control of the contracted works and inspect completed works.   
  8. Collect and review existing guidelines, standards, procedures, criteria, specifications and formats related to the various aspects of the planning and implementation of the agricultural projects.

Duties:   

  1. Management of the section, leading a team of more than 90 people including engineers, land surveyor, technicians, and labourer   
  2. Construction supervision of landscape projects (both project by outside contractors and project executed by staff) in the university campus which include: turf, landscape materials, trees, shrubs and groundcovers, Irrigation Construction and supervision such as Piping, Sprinkler, Bubbler, Drip, Control Valve & Control system excavation, Stamped Concrete ,planter box & Retaining wall concrete pouring & constructions, concrete curb stone , Interlocks, and Precast Concrete,   
  3. Management of the nurseries of the university, which produce different seedling of plants (inside greenhouses), (Including fruit trees, ornamentals, indoor plants, annuals, etc….).   
  4. Supervision of landscape maintenance inside university campus: Include hardscape maintenance, irrigation maintenance, irrigation schedule, plants and turf maintenance routine; Pruning, topiary, fertilization, integrated pest management, training gardening teams to conduct routine maintenance…   
  5. Public health pest control: supervision of public health pest control both operations conducted by staff or by pest control contactors, inside and outside the buildings of the campus, including university restaurants and university hospital, using the latest technologies to control all pests including: rats, cockroaches, flies, etc.

Parsons International - Saudi Arabia: landscape inspector- Ministry of housing program infrastructure project - Medianh   

Duties:   

1- Supervision with contractor on all aspects of hardscape, Softscape and associated utilities. 2- Reviews, corrects, and ensures completeness of landscape plan submittals and as-built plans, Shop 

Drawings, Material Samples, Mock – Ups etc. related to hardscape, soft cape and irrigation. 3- Participate in the preparation of periodical progress report, correspondence with client, project managers and contractors. 4- Resolve any problems or site issues as they occur in connection with hardscape, softscape and irrigation. 5- Ensure that all resources of materials, manpower, plant and equipment available at all sites in a timely manner for proper progress of landscape and irrigation works. 6- Ensure that works at all sites proceeding according to program, to the required standards, and in accordance with approved designs and issued instructions. 7-Follow up the progress of all ongoing site work on a frequent basis to ensure timely and proper completion of site work 8- Ensure that the requirements of the contract documents and the proper administrative procedures are followed   

9-Issue correction notices to contractors to correct deficiencies found during inspections. Ensures deficiencies are corrected prior to acceptance of the work. 10- Monitors irrigation systems including: water use audits, irrigation system scheduling, well systems, meter use reports, renovation and rehabilitation, and emergency repairs. 11- Maintains records of inspection work. 12- Document non-conformance to specifications, codes and standards.
