Job Objectives

The DevOps Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining secure, scalable, and highly available cloud infrastructure on AWS, with a primary focus on Kubernetes (Amazon EKS) environments.

The role ensures reliable CI/CD and GitOps-driven deployments, infrastructure automation using Terraform, and implementation of security, networking, and observability best practices.

The DevOps Engineer collaborates closely with development and security teams to enhance system resilience, reduce operational overhead, and improve software delivery efficiency through automation and structured documentation

Responsibilities And Duties

Cloud Infrastructure & Kubernetes Operations
Design, deploy, and operate AWS-based infrastructure, including EC2, EKS, IAM, VPC, S3, RDS, and related services.
Manage production-grade Kubernetes (Amazon EKS) clusters and workloads.
Ensure high availability, scalability, and fault tolerance across environments.
Apply networking best practices including VPC design, subnets, VPN configuration, load balancing, and DNS management.
Infrastructure as Code & Automation
Develop, maintain, and optimize Terraform modules for provisioning AWS infrastructure.
Manage application packaging and deployment using Helm charts.
Reduce manual operational tasks through scripting (Bash, Python) and process automation.
Maintain clear documentation including runbooks, architecture decisions, and operational procedures.
CI/CD & GitOps Enablement
Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines, or Jenkins.
Implement and manage GitOps workflows using ArgoCD or similar tools for declarative deployments.
Support branching strategies and version control workflows using Git (GitLab, GitHub, Bitbucket).
Continuously improve deployment speed, reliability, and rollback capabilities.
Security, Compliance & Networking Controls
Apply security best practices including least privilege access (IAM), encryption, secrets management, WAF, and vulnerability mitigation.
Support compliance and security hardening initiatives across infrastructure and workloads.
Participate in security reviews, audits, and infrastructure risk assessments.
Observability, Monitoring & Incident Response
Implement and maintain observability stacks using Prometheus and Grafana for metrics, dashboards, and alerting.
Maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems to ensure platform health and reliability.
Troubleshoot production issues and participate in incident response and post-mortems.
Contribute to root cause analysis and continuous reliability improvements.
Continuous Improvement & Collaboration
Collaborate closely with Development, Security, and IT teams to align infrastructure with application needs.
Stay current with advancements in Kubernetes, AWS, GitOps, and DevOps methodologies.
Mentor junior engineers or contribute to small technical initiatives when required.
Promote a culture of automation, reliability, documentation, and operational excellence.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

Years Of Experience

2–4 years of experience in DevOps, SRE, Cloud Engineering, or Platform Engineering roles.

Technical Requirements

Hands-on experience with AWS services (EC2, EKS, IAM, VPC, S3, RDS).
Strong production experience with Kubernetes (preferably Amazon EKS).
Advanced proficiency in Terraform or similar Infrastructure as Code tools.
Experience with Helm for application packaging and deployment.
Experience with CI/CD tools (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Bitbucket Pipelines, Jenkins).
Familiarity with GitOps tools (ArgoCD, Flux).
Proficiency in Git and modern version control workflows.
Strong understanding of networking concepts (DNS, load balancing, firewalls, VPN).
Experience with Prometheus and Grafana for monitoring and alerting.
Understanding of security best practices (IAM, encryption, vulnerability management).
Scripting skills (Bash, Python) for automation.
AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, DevOps Engineer) are preferred.
Experience in regulated or security-sensitive environments is a plus.
