      Job Purpose

      Working within a Country Office (CO) environment, you will ensure the effective management of UNFPA projects in the areas of sexual reproductive health and rights.

      Employing your programme management experience, you will oversee the work of the SRH programme team as well as consultants and experts. You will establish and maintain collaborative relationships with counterparts in government, donor agencies and civil society to address emerging issues, and effectively influence diverse stakeholders to contribute to achieving UNFPA's mandate.

      You Would Be Responsible For

      Policy Support
    • Utilize existing research and evidence on health policy topics, such as the impact of health policies on sexual reproductive health, the cost-effectiveness of sexual reproductive health interventions including family planning, the determinants and barriers of health behaviors, and the distribution and utilization of health resources to inform UNFPA progarmme.
    • Utilize the existing policy frameworks and tools to assess the feasibility, acceptability, and sustainability of reproductive health and family planning policies and programs including in humanitarian settings.
    • Collaborate with area experts to develop and apply economic models and methods to assess the costs benefits, and value of sexual and reproductive health and family planning interventions, programs, and policies.
    • Communicate and disseminate research findings and policy recommendations related sexual reproductive health and rights to relevant audiences, such as policy makers, health care providers, development partners, and the public.
    • Keep abreast of the latest developments and trends in health policy and related fields and participate in professional fora and networking activities and advise the UNFPA programme.
    • Reviewing the political, social and economic environment relevant to UNFPA sexual reproductive health programme and pursuing opportunities for UNFPA assistance and intervention.
    • Assessing implications of new policy developments and strategies on UNFPA programme execution and ensuring their integration.

    • Technical Expertise/management
    • Provide substantive inputs to ensure positioning of UNFPA mandate within the national policies and strategies, UN systems initiatives and frameworks (i.e. CCA, UN Cooperation Framework, SWAPs, etc) and development partners' mechanisms in line with the new aid environment.
    • Develop policy briefs and position papers using the most to date evidence to articulate the linkages between reproductive health and rights and the economic development in the country.
    • Strength national capacity for the implementation UNFPA programme in Jordan in relation to reproductive health and rights focusing on institutional capacities and community partnership and networking.
    • Provide technical assistance to national partners around policy development and system strengthening to scale-up quality services for maternal health and family planning services.
    • Develop with UNFPA programme team a context-specific programme model with national partners around the integration of the Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights and gender-based violence at policy and systems levels.

    • Advocacy and resource mobilization
    • Participating in advocacy and resource mobilisation efforts of the country office, by ensuring preparation of relevant documentation, i.e. project summaries, conference papers, speeches, donor profiles, and participating in related meetings and public events.
    • Provide substantive inputs to the project proposals and reports and collaborate with other UN agencies for joint programmes.
    • Build strong technical and programme multi-sectoral partnerships for advocacy for ICPD agenda through national institutions, networks, alliances and coalitions

    • Results-based programming
    • In collaboration with Government counterparts, NGOs and other partners, overseeing the implementation of the SRH programme and projects, aligning with Government priorities and UNFPA strategic plan and programme policies and procedures.
    • Overseeing project implementation; establishing partnerships with executing agencies, experts, government counterparts and other UN agencies to facilitate timely and efficient delivery of project activities in both development and humanitarian settings.
    • Ensuring effective knowledge management by the SRH programme team through capturing lessons learned and best practices for future planning, addressing capacity needs of project personnel.
    • Overseeing achievement of SRH programme results by ensuring appropriate tools are applied and monitoring and oversight mechanisms are established and implemented.
